30è open de Cappelle-la-Grande - Summary of round 9
Like said yersterday, the last round is obviously decisive. As a proof of the fighting spirit, the first two tables ended up in a black victory, and the 2 outsider players, Bachmann and Azarov, finally won the tournament.
If Serguei Azarov rapidly took over in a wild Ruy Lopez (cf annotated game), Andrei Vovk, who leaded during the whole tournament, fell apart by being overoptimistic, didn't repeat the position and lost track of the game. That's unfortunate for him but congratulations to Axel Bachmann who won Cappelle 2014 !
At 7/9 points there is, for instance, Vovk Andrei, who didn't lose everything, and the top seed Ding, whom we haven't spoken in a while, but quietly, got up in the ranking, but a bit too late.
Concerning the french players, Maxime Lagarde finishes first french player after a solid tournament with 6.5/9 points. Chabanon and Le Goff (who did a great result by drawing against Itturizaga, 2645!).
The tournament's revelation, Martynov Pavel, concluded his tournament by another win and a rating performance of 2680 !
Sylvia Collas finishes undefeated with a rating performance of 2511. It is nice seing her back at this level !
Some disappointments in this tournament : Mathieu Cornette (performance at only 2303) and Dgebuaze Alexandre ( perf at 2269) .
Congatulations to the organizers for this superb tournament and we can't wait till the next one !
